The Place

NEBULA is located in the bathhouse of the Beelitz-Heilstätten and is part of a large complex built between 1898 and 1930 as a sanatorium. Originally designed as a lung healing facility, the site later served as a military hospital. After the withdrawal of Soviet forces in 1994, the grounds were largely left to decay.

Over the following years, the area evolved into a hub for subcultural appropriations, parties, and art events. Its mystical, decay-infused character also made it a sought-after filming and photography location, attracting international productions to Beelitz.

Since 2016, the bathhouse has undergone a transformation. The historic building has been restored and a modern infrastructure has been created that blends harmoniously into the surrounding pine forests and landscape.

As a space dedicated to immersive audio-visual art, spatial storytelling and experimental scenography, NEBULA is intended to serve as a platform for cultural productions and encounters between history, architecture and contemporary art.
